ROH on HonorClub Episode 93 Preview

Thursday night is here once again which means ROH ON HONOR CLUB is back and loaded with red-hot wrestling action! We are just two weeks out from FINAL BATTLE 2024 where we now know ROH Women's World TV Champion Red Velvet will defend against “Legit” Leyla Hirsch and that ROH World Champion “The Nueve” Chris Jericho will be on-hand to defend his championship, but what else will fall into place for ROH's return to the Hammerstein Ballroom? The Righteous are in pursuit of the ROH World Tag Titles, Matt Taven is on the hunt to claim the ROH Pure Championship from Lee Moriarty, and that's just the tip of the iceberg!

onight we've got a huge trios main event on tap between Shane Taylor Promotions and Top Flight/Action Andretti, STP's Trish Adora taking on Rachael Ellering, WRESTLE DYNASTY 2025 Women's International Cup hopeful Billie Starkz taking on Lady Frost, Gates of Agony in tag team action, Katsuyori Shibata versus Dark Order's Alex Reynolds and so much more!

Be sure to join us on December 20th for FINAL BATTLE 2024 live from the Hammerstein Ballroom in the heart of New York City, and exclusively on Honor Club, your home for ROH's weekly show, as well as the destination for 20+ years of wrestling history as showcased in the “Best of ROH” section. There you'll find collections showcasing The Briscoes, Chris Hero, Samoa Joe, Bryan Danielson, Nigel McGuinness, and more of the athletes who've made ROH the most influential wrestling promotion of the century!

TRIOS BOUT...

Shane Taylor Promotions (Capt. Shawn Dean, Carlie Bravo, & Shane Taylor) vs.

Action Andretti & Top Flight (Dante & Darius Martin)

The Infantry of Carlie Bravo and Capt. Shawn Dean are 2-0 in tag team competition since coming under the umbrella of Shane Taylor Promotions and taking a harder edge to their in-ring style. They've certainly demonstrated a willingness to not only bend the rules but also, as demonstrated in the aftermath of Shane Taylor and Lee Moriarty's victory over BEEF and JD Drake two weeks back, to lay down a beating if they feel the need.

So while The Infantry has done well in tag action, tonight on Honor Club the cohesiveness of STP gets put to the test as they face a trio who is 8-0 in ROH competition as a unit: Action Andretti and Top Flight! Though they haven't exactly been on the same page as of late, Action, Dante Martin, and Darius Martin are still one of the most consistent groups in ROH competition and one of the toughest tests this combination of Shane Taylor Promotions could possibly face. There's no doubt Action and Top Flight are worthy contenders for the World Six-Man Titles when The Von Erichs return to action, but Shane Taylor and The Infantry could put themselves in that conversation as well by giving Action and the Martin brothers their first ROH trios loss tonight during ROH ON HONOR CLUB!

ONE-ON-ONE...

Billie Starkz vs. Lady Frost

We know former ROH Women's World TV Champion Billie Starkz will be one of four women representing Ring of Honor in the WRESTLE DYNASTY 2025 International Women's Cup Qualifiers, meaning either her, Leyla Hirsch, ROH Women's World TV Champion Red Velvet, or ROH Women's World Champion Athena will ultimately end up competing at the Tokyo Dome on January 5th. The winner of the ROH bracket will be joined at WRESTLE DYNASTY 2025 by a representative from AEW (either Jamie Hayter, Willow Nightingale, or Serena Deeb) as well as one from CMLL (Zeuxis, Reyna Isis, Sanely, or Persephone) and one from Stardom (TBD) to crown the first winner of the International Women's Cup Tournament.

Though Billie Starkz is already slated to be one of the competitors vying for the spot, that doesn't mean every match on the way there isn't crucial to her position, and just because she holds a singles victory over Lady Frost from HONOR CLUB #31 last September doesn't mean the former champ should take it for granted she's got this one in the bag. Frost is a game competitor who gave Athena two of her toughest Proving Ground battles, as well as the longest one of her record-setting World Title reign at 8:34. She's been in a Proving Ground battle with Red Velvet for the Women's World TV Title, she's been in there with Willow Nightingale, Skye Blue, Leyla Hirsch, Mercedes Martinez, and continually demonstrated growth in her abilities. The difficult part for Frost has been consistency, as evidenced by the fact her last victory took place three months ago during HONOR CLUB #81, but never a question of skill.

Can she put it all together to stifle any momentum Billie Starkz is hoping to build towards the International Women's Cup, or will it be Billie squashing the hopes Lady Frost has of breaking through to that next level?

TAG TEAM MATCH...

Gates of Agony (Bishop Kaun & Toa Liona) vs. Griff Garrison & Preston Vance

17-1; that is the record Gates of Agony hold in ROH tag team competition since SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2022: ZERO HOUR when they were first unleashed on the Ring of Honor roster! 14 victories in standard tags, two of them in a 3-Way Tag, one in a 4-Way, and that single blemish was a result of another 4-Way tag in which Undisputed Kingdom of Matt Taven & Mike Bennett emerged victorious at Dark Order's expense. It's impossible to argue they aren't deserving of a championship opportunity, and yet it is an opportunity that's eluded them for well over two years, yet unlike many, Bishop Kaun and Toa Liona are not the ones to complain and gripe about the circumstances.

Instead they will continue to smash heads, take names, and rack up victories until their status as contenders is utterly undeniable. Tonight that brings them into a fight with a very promising tag team in Griff Garrison and Preston Vance, two individuals looking for a fresh start in ROH who have managed to find that combining their talents. During HONOR CLUB #90 they picked up their first as a team, but with this bout against Gates of Agony, well suffice to say they are taking a quantum leap in the quality of competition.

Will Garrison and Vance end up the 18th victim of Gates of Agony, or can they find a way to be the first team in the 979 days since SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2022 to defeat Kaun and Toa in a traditional tag?

SINGLES MATCH...

STP's Trish Adora vs. Rachael Ellering

As a member of Shane Taylor Promotions, Trish Adora has indulged in her violent side a little more than usual, but she's always been a hard-hitting competitor with her in-ring style. Tonight on HONOR CLUB she's matched up with another competitor who has no problem throwing down, a woman Trish has never fought before in any fashion, the ever-dangerous Rachael Ellering! Ellering comes in having won two of her last three singles matches while Adora is 1-2 in hers, but Adora now has the support of STP in her corner, and that may make all the difference! Can Trish show and prove in her first match since signing on with Shane Taylor Promotions, or will this be Rachael Ellering's night to make it three victories over her last four?

ONE-ON-ONE...

“The Wrestler” Katsuyori Shibata vs. Dark Order's Alex Reynolds

Coming off a tremendous trios victory on last week's RAMPAGE alongside Mascara Dorada and Atlantis Jr, Katsuyori Shibata returns to ROH competition to meet his second Dark Order member of the year! Back on HONOR CLUB #73 Shibata defeated Evil Uno via referee stoppage, but this week it's Alex Reynolds who is stepping up to battle the former ROH Pure Champion in solo competition!

Shibata is 16-2 in ROH competition since returning to the fold at SUPERCARD OF HONOR 2023 after six years away, his only losses coming at the hands of Wheeler Yuta and Eddie Kingston in championship fights, and is currently riding a six-match win streak into this battle. As for Reynolds, this is a rare singles match for him, and just his second under the ROH banner with the last taking place on HONOR CLUB #70 in a loss to Lee Johnson.

Can Reynolds rise to the occasion against “The Wrestler”, or will Shibata continue his domination of the ROH ranks?

TV TIME WITH ROH WORLD CHAMPION CHRIS JERICHO...

Tonight during ROH ON HONOR CLUB, 2-Time ROH World Champion “The Nueve” Chris Jericho has promised to reveal who he will defend his title against at FINAL BATTLE 2024 on December 20th! There are plenty of men who want a shot at the title Jericho robbed from Mark Briscoe in their Ladder War several weeks ago, but who will step up to the plate when Ring of Honor returns to the historic Hammerstein Ballroom for our annual year-end extravaganza?
